Well done Mick in completing all the 2,000 ft tops of England and Wales. Here is what he says - "Don't need that map anymore! On
Saturday, I finished a long-term (20 year) project when I finished the 2,000 footers of England and Wales.
That's 772 mountain tops (although that included a few 'just in case' tops that were last measured at 1999-and-a-bit ft.). It is a list compiled by Edward Moss in the 1940s (and updated by his son since) and includes every point over 2,000 feet, that had, on the maps at the time, at least one contour ring around it. So I suppose that definitely puts Edward Moss, his son and me into the 'nerd' class. It keeps me off the streets. |
